220: Real Love

Ep 220 Insta.png

In this episode Leigh and Ellie discuss shipping real life couples. From Ellen and Portia to Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli and everyone in between. Why do we ship them? Why does it hit us to hard when they break up? We are so invested in the success of these queer relationships because we want to see successful relationship role models, especially when the relationships on tv and in movies don't give us happy endings. With more and more queer celebrity couples coming out like Janelle Monae and Tessa Thompson (or Lupita Nyong'o), Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird and Ashley Benson and Cara Delevigne, they give young queer people hope and plenty to gossip about! We chat about his start with Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber, touring with Lady Gaga, Everyone Is Gay, being a supportive parent to gay kids, discovering her gender identity and not being an asshole. Ep209Insta (2).png

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk finding your queer crew, why we go from a heteronormative world to a homonormative one and why queer spaces are so important with Lauren Augarten (@laurenaugarten), the creator, writer and actor from Same Same Series (@samesameseries). Meeting through a Smartphone app, three twenty-something lesbians from very different backgrounds navigate the complexities of the modern queer experience. The series is all kinds of relatable and you should all check it out! You can watch Same Same Series on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/samesameseries. SBG 15: Practical Magic

SBGPracticalMagic (1).png

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk about why Practical Magic should have been gay. The Owens women are cursed to have all of the men that they love die. Obvious solution, love women instead! And don't even get us started on their "eccentric" aunts. We all know eccentric is code word for lesbian. We recast the detective as Reese Witherspoon and totally ship a Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon, witch and detective love story. This is every lesbians' Halloween dream. Join us on Twitter for Midnight Margaritas on Thursday! Follow along on Twitter @lezhangoutpod and Facebook and Instagram (@lezhangoutpod).

Should Have Been Gay: Gilmore Girls

SBGgg-insta.png

Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) talk about why Gilmore Girls should have been gay. Gilmore Girls stars Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore and Liza Weil as Paris Geller. Leigh and Ellie talk about how all of Rory will never find happiness with a man, the hate to love slow burn that could have been #Gellmore and read a fan fiction about Rory and Paris' Boston Marriage.  For Pride Month, they feature Queer Kid Stuff, a webseries creating LGBTQ+ educational videos for children. Carmilla Movie.jpg

Buckle up Creampuffs! Leigh and Ellie discuss the Carmilla Movie on this episode of Lez-ssentials, a recurring segment on the essential movies and TV shows in the lesbian canon. Everyone's favorite lesbian vampire and human journalist and the gang from Silas University are back for their first full length movie. The Carmilla Movie is a 2017 movie starring Natasha Negovanlis as Carmilla and Elise Bauman as Laura Hollis. The movie comes from the Carmilla web series on KindaTV and has gained quite a following among queer audiences. Leigh and Ellie discuss their lack of a five year plan, Ellie's favorite addition to the cast with Dominique Provost-Chalkley, how long it really takes to get out of that corset, the banging sound track and our undying love for LaFerry. This episode also comes with an original Lez-ssentials song based off of the movie, "In My Dreams" and of course our Lez-ssentials Drinking Game.
